The PALS (Promoting American Literature among Students and beyond) project is aimed at popularizing American literature among student and broader population and encompasses a series of podcasts accompanied with video content on the subjects of widely taught American classical texts. The main goal of the project is to make some of the American classics more accessible to general public using contemporary means of communication, such as video podcasts and social media, and utilizing the expert knowledge of the two applicants, university professors of Anglo-American Literature and SUSI on Contemporary American Literature alumnae. Incorporating multimodal means of representation into public teaching will hopefully bring in a more dynamic approach aimed at boosting critical literacy. We believe that this approach to teaching and discussing literature in a more informal context will not only be beneficial for our students but also generate interest among wider audiences, especially because it will be accessible on the Internet.
